Series 5.3 Abstraction 19 “Casual Descent”

ABSTRACTIONS 03_2-21-2012_019 | "CASUAL DESCENT" | ~ 18″X24″ | TEMPERA, GESSO AND CHARCOAL ON PAPER

Saw a Dr. Who episode the other night where the Dr. and his asst. were cloned, shrunk (Honey I Shrunk the Kids – shrink) and injected into the Dr.’s brain because his mind was infected. [Difference between the mind and brain.] During the search for the Nucleus – infection source - several times they pass through the Dr’s “neural network“.

The more I worked on this piece the more I though about how they created it. There are certain episodes that I find very visually appealing. Some of the best low-budget sci-fi set design I’ve seen – if not the best. But anyway, if there were a nearly literal meaning to anything I’ve done, the full title of this work would be, “Casual Descent through the Dr’s Neural Network.”
